We need people to help us with this video. A video about Great Britain. The good and the bad. A celebration of its seasons and beauty as well as a realistic portrayal of what it is to be British.

What's the video going to be about?

The general premise of the video is that the people of Britain are all calling someone to send this message out, a kind of reverse of all the phones ringing at the end of "Lawnmower Man", everyone we see in this video is calling the same number and essentially sticking it to the man. Telling him what it really is to be British today, what they are proud of, what the issues are, saying it like it is - the beauty of this is that it's all in the lyrics. What we are asking of you is that you sing the lyrics, in a suitable location, in a way we can define so all the footage will edit in together.

So what do we actually have to do?

Download part of the track (a couplet) or if you are feeling daring a fuller section. Downloading the fuller section will give you a better chance to actually make the cut, as it will limit the amount of duplicate entries we get. We've put the lyrics up to give you a fighting chance to lip-synch as close as you can.

Who is going to be making the call? We want all ages etc...

We need examples of natural beauty, large expanses of beautiful British countryside or backdrops of a city skyline - think "what would make a brilliant photograph?" - We also need examples of realistic scenes - inside a supermarket - a back alley, rubbish whirling in the wind behind - a corridor in a block of flats or in a club / pub. Think Mike Leigh. A dream shot of mine is someone talking / singing into a prison payphone!

Some of these props will be dependant on the location you choose - we don't want all mobile phones - red phone boxes are quintesssentially British, we need these, but we also want other types of payphone, home phones etc... keep their location realistic - don't use a home cord phone in the middle of a field! Try and avoid too much advertising on the sides of phones etc...

We need two versions of the same piece of lyrics, a wide establishing shot, showing you (or your subject) the phone and the location - as photographic as possible. A nice and steady shot - you can handhold the camera here but don't let it wobble too much. We also want the same scene in a close up - handheld would be best here as well - naturally there will be a little more wobble here but don't worry too much about that - with close ups its often better to stay quite far from the subject still but just zoom in (don't use the Digital Zoom if you can help it!) - This close up will be of the person making the call, it doesn't have to be facing the camera - they can be looking away, into the scene they are in, looking at what they are singing about etcÉhave fun with the shot, be creative - is there a reflection or a mirror (if they are in a car or something) - could you film them close up using these? Think about what the lyrics you have mean, and who you are telling that to, some of them are quite defensive (defending our British way) some are more critical. They are going to come out better if you believe what you are saying, and not just saying / singing them.

What we ask here is that you do it in the best quality you can (as in anything which will look okay on a TV screen) - old camera phones would not do so well. Camcorders would be the better option if you can get your hands on them. Let us worry about collating the different kinds of media - we can pretty much accept all formats.

Hopefully all these options will enable your creative juices to flow - find more great suitable locations, change who is in the frame and re-enter - enter as much and as often as you can - just keep the person in the frame different!
